If curd and yogurt are same then how can they contain different bacteria?

Dear Student,

Curd and Yoghurt are one and the same. It is termed as curd in India and as Yoghurt in the US and UK.yoghurt since its made by company and machine-made it reduces the water and it gives the thick form of curd whereas if we do it at home it will be thick but little water will be there. But a home made is always good. To attract people, these companies are adding flavors to plain yogurt and selling so that kids will like to eat.

Curd is made by cream and skimmed milk with Lactobacillus acidophilus at 40 degree temperature or less.
Yogurt is produced by curdling milk with Streptococcus thermophilus and Lactobacillus bulgaricus. It has flavor of lactic acid and acetaldehyde.
Therefore, there may be differences due to the production/manufacturing and taste habits.
