If dilute HCl (Hydrochloric acid) is added to Iron sulphide compound, hydrogen sulphide gas is evolved. Its properties include:
1. Hydrogen sulphide is a foul smelling gas which resembles an odour of rotten eggs.
2. It is heavier than air, poisonous, corrosive, flammable and explosive.
