If each edge of a cube is increased by 50%,then find the percentage increase in its surface area ? 

Let the measure of each edge of the cube be 'x'.

Surface Area= 6x² 

Increased measure of edge= (150/100 X x) = 3x/2

Increased surface area= 6{ (3x/2 )² }

                                          = 6 X 9x²/4 = 27x² / 2

Increase in surface area= 27x²/2 - 6x² = (27x² - 12x²)/2 = 15x²/2

% increase in surface area= {(15x²/2)/ 6x² X 100 } %

                                                 = (15x²/ 12x² X 100)% = 125 %

Answer= Percent increase in its surface area is 125 %
