If one root of a quadratic equation 3x2+ PX + 4 = 0 is 2/3, find the value of p

The given equation is

3x2 + px + 4 = 0

since x = 2/3 is a root of the above equation, then it must satisfy it.

 3(2/3)2 + 2p/3 + 4 = 0

⇒ 4/3 + 4 + 2p/3 = 0

⇒ 2p/3 = -4/3 - 4

⇒  2p = -16

⇒ p = - 8

  • 9

if a root of the eqn is 2/3, then

3[2/3]2+p[2/3]+4=0

4/3+p2/3+4=0

p2/3 = -4-4/3

p2/3 = -16/3

p=-16[3]/3[2]

p=-8
