if rutherford had taken beta particles instead of alpha particles in his model of atomic theory
then what would happen ?

if it would be happen , so all the particles would deflect from their path &  return to their path & the experiment would not be happen
i think that

If he had used the beta particles, the beta prticles would have gone through the gold sheet as the beta particles are 100 times more penetrating than alpha particles.

i dont think that very varying results would come. also, he would never take the beta particles as he thought that alphas were best for experimenting and i agree.

Sorry i was wrong. If Rutherford had used beta particles instead of alpha then the beta particles would be attracted to the gold foil as they hold a +ve charge whereas alpha particles hold -ve charge and gets deflected and hence that complete's Rutherford's experiment

ford took alpha particles instead of beta particles because of the mass ratio alpha particles have a mass of 4000 Mve , WHEREAS BETA PARTICLES OR ELECTRONS HAS 0.5Mve and the thin gold foil ha mass 200000 Mve .So to maintain the mass ratio he used alpha particles

1:most of the beta particals would have passed undeflected 2: It would have become more focused after passing through metal foil 3:A very few beta particals would has been completely absorbed

What if rutherford would have used beta particles instead of alpha in his experiment

The observation beta particle scattering beyond gold foil had not been observed

Because it has negative charge and they have like electron if Ruther use beta ray than the beta show repulsion due electron present in atom of the gold foil and we know that in nucleus there are positron and beta has electron so they collide into the nucleus so, then how Ruther get structure of atom which he want.
