If Sodium Bicarbonate is added in water having Hydrilla plant in a beaker, what will happen to the rate of photosynthesis?

Dear student,
The rate of photosynthesis will increase because the rate of photosynthesis depends upon the amount of light energy and carbon dioxide. If amount of carbon dioxide is greater rate of photosynthesis will increase. So, if we add sodium bicarbonate in water, this leads to increased amount of carbon dioxide provided by sodium bicarbonate which increases available carbon dioxide for hydrilla plant. This results in increased rate of photosynthesis.
