If the areas of circular bases of a frustum of a cone are 16 cm2 and 36 cm2 respectively and the height of the frustum is 15 cm, what is the volume of the frustum?

Area of base1=16 cm2Area of base2= 36 cm2height of the frustum = 15 cm

volume V  of a frustum of right circular cone isV = 13×π×h×(r12+r22+r1r2)     = h3×(πr12+πr22+πr1r2)      =h3×(πr12+πr22+πr12×πr22)       =h3×(area of base1+area of base2+area of base1×area of base2)        =  15 cm3×(16 cm2+36 cm2+16 cm2×36 cm2)        = 5 cm ×76 cm2 =380 cm3 (Ans)

 Alternate procedure  :-
One can also first find out the values of r1 and r2 from the values of areas of circular bases with the help of formula given below and then putting that values in the formulae of volume
       r1=(Area of base1)π and r2=(Area of base2)π
