If the distance between two masses is increased by a factor of 5,by what factor would the mass of one of them have to be altered to maintain the same gravitational force? Would this be an increase or decrease in the mass?

One of the mass should be multiplied by 25 because if the distance is increased by 5 the force will be reduced by a factor of 25. Therefore to maintain the same gravitational force ,one of the mass is multiplied by 25 so that 25 and 25 cancel out each other and the force remains unaffected.
