if the mean of 7, 9, 11, 13, x and 21 is 13 find the value of x.

Sum of observations = 7 + 9 + 11 + 13 + 21 + x = 61 + x
no. of observations = 6
arithmetic mean = 13
arithmetic mean = sum of observationsno. of observations ⇒13 = 61 + x6⇒61 + x = 78⇒x = 78 - 61 = 17

Given : Arithmetic mean of 7, 9, 11, 13, x and 21 = 13.
Arithmetic Mean = Sum of all observations/Number of observations
13 = (7 + 9 + 11 + 13 + x +21)/6
13 = (61 + x)/6
61 + x = 13*6
61 + x = 78
x = 78 - 61
x = 17?
So, the value of x is 17.
