if the tail of a mouse is cut for twenty one generations, will the tail occur in the twenty second generation of that mouse?give reason to support your answer

I think yes but not sure...

because it is acquired trait. The cut tail of mice is an acquired trait which never passed on to their progeny. This is because cutting of tails of mice does not change the genes of their reproductive cells.so even after 20 gen also the result will be same i.e. no tail-less mouse will born.

No the next coming generations will alwasy have the trait. A scientis has performed this experiment in many progenies of a mice but he got the result that in coming gnereation the mice will always have the tail.

It will not be cut because we are cutting the tail of the mouse for twenty one generations its not inherited
its an acquired trait

What will be the answer?

Totally Confused...
To whom I hv to believe?
Yes or No..

yes ,,it will still occur. as given in the text...the beetles were starved for a while....they became thin...so did their progeny.but when food was available, they came back to the normal size.
  • 1
the tail of mouse will occur in twenty second generation  because they acquired traits which are not inherited to the offsprings .

Acquired trait      or        inherited trait     ??????

hie
yah ofcourse the tail will occur in 22nd generation.
This is bcuz the cutting of tail is smthng dat the mouse has acquired in the non reproductive tissue. It has acquired this very trait in somatic or growth cells of the body. And any thing acquired in the growth cells cant b passed on to the next generation. example if a person met an accident dat led to some cuts on his arms, the child of the person is not going to have those cuts as it is smthng dat the person acquired during his life time leading to change in somatic cells and not the genetic composition of the reproductive cells.

Yes This is because it is an acquired trait.Hence there's no change in the genetic make up
  • 3
and wiesmann was the scientist who performed this experiment.
  • -3
thx all....
  • -4
The answer is no and it makes sense because removal of tail cannot change the genes of the germ cell of the mice
  • -2
The mouse continue to have information of presence of tail in its DNA . So, will continue to have tail because it is an acquired trait
  • 1
No,the tail will not occur in 22nd generation because the generatio of tail is acquired trait which cannot be replenished and acquired trait is defined as the characteristic or trait that is a result of environmental influence

No tail for the mouse in 22nd generation. This is an acquired traid.
