If we cannot digest cellulose.then what happens to the leafy vegetables and cooked vegetables that we eat as those also contain cellulose.
If we cannot digest them then how can we get all the nutritional value of them??
Please please answer with complete explaination.

Dear student,

Humans lack cellulase enzyme which helps in digestion of cellulose present in green leafy vegetables.
As a result, we can't fully digest the raw green vegetables.
However, due to cooking, the cell wall often breaks down due to heat and mechanical pressure of cooking. As a result, some portion of the cellulose breaks down , thereby releasing the nutrients present in the vegetables.

Thus , cooking allows us to get the benefit of the nutrients. Moreover, raw and partly digested cooked vegetables also act as roughage and help in the easy peristaltic movement.
Thus it is suggested to include green leafy vegetables in our diet
