if we plot the point A(-1,0),B(-1,1), C(0,1) D(0,0) on cartesian plane which figure is formed on joining the points in order. Also identify the shape of the figure

Answer :

We can draw A( - 1 , 0 ) ,  B( - 1 , 1 ) ,  C ( 0 , 1 ) and   D ( 0 , 0 )  on cartisian plane , As :

And we know distance formula   = x2 - x12 + y2 - y12
So,

AB  = -1 --12 + 1 - 02    = -1 + 12 + 1 2   =   1   unit

BC  = 0 --12 + 1 - 12     = 1 2 + 0 2   =   1   unit

CD  = 0 -0 2 + 0- 12     = 0 2 + 1 2   =   1   unit

DA  = -1-02 + 0 - 02     = -1 2 + 0 2   =   1   unit

Here  we can see that

AB  =  BC   = CD  = DA  =  1 unit

And we know that x and y axis form 90° to each other , So all internal angles will be 90°  .

Hence
ABCD is a square , As we know in square  all four sides are equall and perpendicular to each other .              ( Ans )
