If we were to count the no. of insects feeding on a big tree,we would get an inverted pyramid.Why??

This is because the number of insects feeding a big tree are much more than a single tree. They give inverted pyramids  because these pyramides are made on the basis of number. If pyramid is made based on energy , then erect pyramid is obtained , as amount of energy always decreases while moving from one trophic level to another.
