Illustrate a step by step activity to a double displacement reaction, Give the chemical equation of the reaction takes place.

Dear Student,

Aim−To performs double displacement reaction between sodium sulphate and barium chloride

Theory− In a double displacement reaction the cations and anions of two different compounds switch places, forming two entirely different compounds.

AB + CD ----> AD + BC

Procedure−
1. Take 2 ml of sodium sulphate solution in a test tube.
2. Take 1 ml of barium chloride solution in another test tube.
3. Add barium chloride solution to sodium sulphate solution.
4. Observe the change.

Observation: A white precipitate of barium sulphate appears

BaCl2 (aq) + Na2SO4 (aq) -------> BaSO4 (s) + 2 NaCl (aq)

Precautions:
1. Handle chemicals safely.
2.Keep the mouth of the test tube away from your face.
