25 December 1919 Saturday 22:00hrs Dear diary, It is Christmas today but the town looks abandoned. All the streets are deserted and I haven't seen people singing Christmas carols at doorsteps. No lights, no decorated Christmas trees. I thought of buying a few presents but all the shops are either shut down or in debris. The entire skyline of the town is clouded with ashes and burnt paper. I am dumbstruck by the disastrous condition this town has to face because of the war. There is police patrolling everywhere, in every nook and corner of the town.
