In a certain mammal erect ears are dominant over drooping ears. In a cross between the 2 types, out of the offspring produced in the F2 generation 3 had erect ears and one had drooping ears. What were the genotypes of the parents. Work out the cross.

Let  E  be  the  dominant  for  erect  ears.

Let  e  be  the  recessive  allele  for  drooping  ears.

Parents   -----------  EE  x  ee

F1  generation ----------   Ee

Then in F2 generation ---------- (selfing  F1)

Parents ----------------  Ee x Ee

Offspring Genotypes  -------   1 EE: 2Ee: 1 ee

Offspring Phenotypes  ------- 3 Erect: 1 droopy
