In a mitochondrion, highest
number of ATP are found in
(1) Matrix
(2) Intermembrane space
(3) F0 of ATP synthase
(4) Cristae

Dear student,
In the process of cellular respiration and ATP production of a single glucose molecule, we can see 2 ATPs are produced in glycolysis process which takes place in the cytoplasm, about 2 ATPs in Krebs cycle which takes place in the mitochondrial matrix and about 32 ATPs in the ETC (electron transport chain) which takes place in the inner mitochondrial membrane. Hence the highest number of ATPs are found in a mitochondria is at the intermembrane space.
Hence the answer is (2) Intermembrane space.

Regards.
