In a parallelogram ABCD,AB=8 cm.The altitudes corresponding to side AB and AD are respecyvely 4cm and 5cm.Find measure of AD.

In parallelogram ABCD, AB is the base and let DF be the corresponding altitude.Therefore, Area of the parallelogram ABCD = bh = DF X AB = 4 X 8 = 32 sq. cmSince Area = bh, that is also equal to base DA multiplied by the corresponding altitude BE.That implies, Area of the parallelogram = AD X BE = 5BE = 32

That implies BE = 32 / 5 = 6.4 cm
