In a periscope, two mirrors are arranged parallel to each other but they do not form multiple images. Why?

They are set at an angle of 45 degree at a maximum distance is made so that they will not found such multiple images as both are placed very far from each othet they only reflect light and send to our eyes , this is how periscope works
