In a radio active material the activity at time t1 is R1 and at a later time t2 is R2. If the decay constant of the material is (lambda) then,

1-R1=R2

2-R1=R2e^(-lambda)(t1-t2)

3-R1=R2e^(lambda)(t1-t2)

4-R1=R2(t2/t1)

dN/dt1 (=R1) = -lambdaN
dN/dt2 (=R2) = -lambdaN'
But,
  N'/N = e raise to the power (-lambda(t2-t1))
Therefore, R2 / R1 = e raise to the power (-lambda(t2-t1))
Or, R1 = R2 e raise to the power (lambda(t2-t1)) = R2 e raise to the power (-lambda(t1-t2)) .
