in an experiment to show loss in weight during transpiration we take a leafy shoot . suppose you took a single flower with a long stalk dipping in water, instead of a leafy twig . will it serve the purpose ? explain.

Dear student,

Transpiration is the process by which plants lose water in the vapour form, from the aerial parts of the plant. Transpiration is dependent on normal opening and closing of stomata. These stomata are the tiny pores present on the surface of leaves thus during the process of transpiration the excess water in plant is lost through these pores. Therefore while performing the said experiment a leafy shoot of plant is taken so to obtain an accurate result.
