In Diary Entry, many times it is written as 'Ram called you today at 10 a.m.' This sentence is written in Past Tense. Is it a rule that Diary Entry is written in Past Tense only? My question is that if it has to be written in Past Tense then any action of Today's will also be written in Past Tense. But for describing any action which is performed Today, it should be in Present Tense. Please explain.

A diary entry is not made soon after the event. It is usually recorded at the end of the day and this is the reason it is presented in past tense. If you have to write it in present tense, you ought to be recording the event when it is happening.
