In human, starch digestion begins in the buccal cavity, but stops in stomach. Why?

because the enzymes required aren't present in the stomach.in the stomach only the enzymes pepsin(for protein digestion) &renin (in babies) is present.also small amount of lipases(for fat digestion is present).
