In linear structure of Glucose, to which no. carbon atom is the -OH bond attached.

Dear student,
Please find below the solution to the asked query

In the linear structure of glucose, the hydroxyl groups are attached carbon number 6 and the atoms which are chiral.

In fig given below,C1 is having a double bond with oxygen and single bond with H. Due to the double bond it is achiral.
C6 is attached to C5, two H atoms and one hydroxyl group. As it is attached to two H, it is achiral as they are same. For a carbon atom to be chiral, it should be attached to four different groups.

C2,C3,C4 and C5 are chiral carbons.

Hope this information will clear your doubts about the carbon atom to which -OH bond is attached.
