  2. another one committed an error in the coefficient of x and got the roots as 12 and 4 find the equation
  3.

Dear Student,

Please find below the solution to the asked query:

Given :  While solving a quadratic equation committed mistakes

1 ) One of them made a mistake in constant term and got the roots 5 and 9 , So

Our equation = ( x  -  5 ) ( x  - 9 )

x2 - 5 x  - 9 x  + 45

x2 - 14 x  + 45  , Here " 45 " is wrong

2 ) One of them made a mistake in coefficient of x and got the roots 12 and 4 , So

Our equation = ( x  -  12 ) ( x  - 4 )

x2 - 4 x  - 12 x  + 48

x2 - 16 x  + 48  , Here " - 16 " is wrong

So,

Our right equation  = x2 - 14 x  + 48                                                                        ( Ans )
