In NCERT it is quoted for red algae as: "They reproduce sexually by non-motile gametes. Sexual reproduction is oogamous."
Experts how it can be oogamous when the gametes are non- motile because the definition of oogamous is given as "Fusion between one large, non motile female gamete and a smaller MOTILE male gamete"

Dear student,
It is true that oogamy is defined as the fusion between one large, non motile female gamete and a smaller motile male gamete
But red algae show an exception to this, since they have non motile gametes. But the sexual reproduction is still considered oogamous. Thus it is an exception.
