in the alpha scattering experiment , Rutherford has taken gold foil but that's a matter but not an atom to have the electron , proton and have the light at the corners ,then how is this possible for more number of atoms combined ???

Dear student
Please find the solution to the asked query:

Gold is an element, and an element is one type of atom.
So gold is made up of the constituent particles, proton, neutron and electron.
This helps Rutherford to conduct the experiment easily.
In a gold foil, there are many atoms of gold present, which enable the scattering of alpha rays.

Hope this information will clear your doubts regarding the topic. If you have any other doubts please ask here on the forum and our experts will try to solve them as soon as possible.
