In the different stages of Mitosis, where should we use the term chromosome and where should we use the term chromatid? I am getting confused

Dear student

Please refer the solution below for the said query

Chromatin is the loose form of DNA while chromosome is condensded form of DNA.

The term chromatin is used in the interphase of the cell cycle (G1 phase, S - phase and G2 phase. At the begining of prophase also, DNA is present as chromatin but when prophase starts the DNA condenses and forms chromosomes. The DNA is then present as chromosomes in metaphase, anaphase and telophase of cell cycle.

Hope this information clears your doubt about the topic.
