Because of his amiable nature, he tried to teach Suraj how to make a perfect dive since Suraj was highly impressed by Ranji's diving skills. So, Ranji tried to teach him and Suraj also reciprocated enthusiastically by trying to learn and this was the beginning of a friendship between the two leading to both of them sharing the pool. Suraj also said that he was training to become a pehalwan and in exchange for swimming lessons, he will teach Ranji how to become a wrestler.
