In the graph for enthalpy of atomisation in d-block, the maxima at about the middle of the series indicate that one unpaired electron per d orbital is particularly favourable for strong interatomic interaction. Why?
That is because no. of unpaired electrons increases while going from left to right, till the middle of the series and then it starts decreasing.
