"In the life cycle of the thallophytes , the gaemete producing haploid - phase , called gametophytic phase is dominant. The short spore - bearing diploid phase , the sporophytic phase do not remain attached to the gametophyte". - Explain this statement as early as possible. Plzz......

Thallophytes have haplontic life cycle which means that the gametophytic phase is dominant over the sporophytic phase. There is no free living sporophyte, i.e., the sporophyte is represented by a diploid zygote. The zygote divides to produce haploid spores that further divides to form the gametophyte.
In the life cycle of thallophytes, the gametophytic phase is dominant and free-living not the sporophytic phase. The gametophytic phase do not remain attached to the sporophyte.
