The Rattrap' is a story that focuses on human loneliness and the need to be kind to others. It shows how an act of kindness can change a person's view of the world. In keeping with this mood of the story, write an article on 'On Being Kind'.

- Dear student, always answer the given question directly.
- The question mentions that the article has to be in context to the story, so do that!
- You take the example from the story and then elaborate how kindness can actually change a person's point of view.
- The peddler  been transformed by the girl's kindness and compassion.
- Meeting the ironmaster's daughter was a turning point for the peddler because her unbridled kindness and concern touched him deeply and spurred him to mend his ways.
- She convinced her father to allow him to stay on in their house to share the Christmas cheer.
- She made him believe in himself again, treated him like a captain in the army though she was well aware of the fact that he was a common tramp.
- It was as a token of appreciation for this treatment that he left the rattrap as a Christmas gift for the girls and enclosed a letter of thanks, leaving behind the stolen money to be restored to the owner.
- This act is reflective of the values of kindness and compassion exhibited in the story.
- We must learn from this example and always be compassionate and kind to others.
- Our simple acts of kindness: sharing our food with the underprivileged, celebrating our birthday with slum children, sponsoring the education of a poor child: will give somebody hope and an opportunity to better his life!
