In what natural ways are soil nitrates replaced ?

Dear student,

Following are the natural ways of replenishing soil Nitrogen content:
1. Growing Leguminous plants and crop rotation.
The rhizobium present in roots of leguminous plant like Chana, peas and pulses converts atmospheric Nitrogen into water soluble and absorbable nitrates.
Crop rotation using Leguminous plants in the cycle helps in recovering soil Nitrogen content.
2. Decomposition of animal and plant waste.
Living cells contain a lot of Nitrogen. When it decomposes by action of decomposers and saprophytes, all the trapped Nitrogen gets mixed in the soil.
3. By free Living Nitrogen fixing bacteria like Anabaena and Nostoc
They are present in soil and they convert atmospheric Nitrogen into nitrates, enriching the soil with absorbable form of Nitrogen.
