in what ways european style of painting different from the indian style?

There are many ways of looking at the European styles and Indian styles of paintings. What I see here is that the former(European ) established a link between art and imperialism whereas the latter(Indian) maintained a link between  art and nationalism. There were trends in the native painters to drive away from the conventional patterns of European art and draw upon the spiritual essence of the east.
