India undoubtedly has a rich heritage of flora and fauna as there are so many different species.
  • It has around 47,000 plant species and about 15,000 flowering plants
  • India also has 89,000 species of animals.
  • India has 6% of the world's total flowering plants
  • It occupies 10th place in world and 4th in Asia in plant diversity.
  • India also consists of virgin vegetation(which is purely Indian) also known as endemic or indigenous species
