inhibitor looks similar to substrate . enzymes are specific . so if the enzyme is group specific does the inhibitor also have those groups so as to make it similar to substrate?

Yes, in case of competitive inhibition, the inhibitor molecule has same structure to that of the substrate and will possess similar groups mainly at binding site that occupies the active of enzyme.
