IS COLLOIDAL SOLUTION HETEROGENIUS OR HOMOGENIUS?? BECAUSE TYNDALL EFFECT CAN BE OBSERVED IN COLOIDAL SOLUTION AND THE PARTICLES CANNOT BE VISIBLE AND ALSO IT IS TRANSLUCENT AND PARTICLES ARE UNIFORMLY DISTRIBUTION….

  • A colloid is a heterogeneous mixture.
  • Colloidal particle size is too small
  • They scatter beam of light.
  • Do not settle when left undisturbed
  • Cannot be separated by the process of filtration.
The particles of a colloid are uniformly spread throughout the solution.  Due to the relatively smaller size of the particles the mixture appears to be homogeneous.  But a colloidal solution is a heterogeneous mixture.  Colloidal particles scatter a beam of light and that effect is called Tyndall effect.
