is concave mirror used in spectacles

Dear Student

Mirrors are not used in spectacles. We use concave lenses in spectacles for the correction of the condition of Myopia. Myopia is when people are not able to see the objects which are a distance clearly.

Yes, concave mirrors are used to aid the vision of people who have myopia. These people are short-sighted, and their problem is that light from objects far away does not reach as far as their retina. The concave spectacles help to diverge the light rays slightly, so the light rays can travel far enough to reach the person's retina. I myself suffer from myopia. The other eye problem, where convex spectacles are required, is called hyperopia, and people who suffer from this are long-sighted. Light from closer objects goes too far past their retina. The convex lens help because they converge the light rays slightly so they do not travel too far, but far enough to reach the retina. Many old people suffer from hyperopia. Hope this helps!
