is euglena a plant cell or an animal cell

Euglena is a single-celled organism which is known to have both plant and animal characteristics. When it was originally discovered it was difficult to classify as a plant or an animal.
But now it is known that Euglena is neither a plant nor an animal; it is placed in a separate kingdom i.e. kingdom protista. So, it is a protist that can exhibit heterotrophic mode of nutrition like animals as well as it can also performs photosynthesis like plants.
