Is germinal epithelium and stratum germinativum? If yes then how germinal epithelium is made of cuboidal cells and stratum Germinativum is made of columnar cells as both the cells form the basal membrane.. Pls reply asap

Dear student

Germinal epithelium initially are made of cuboidal cells .They give rise to other cells. When at maturity, they form columnar cells called Stratum Germinativum. Both these cells are thus same and form basal membrane ,the only difference is that germinal epithelium give rise to stratum germinativum during epidermis formation.
  • Epidermal organogenesis, the formation of the epidermis, begins in the cells covering the embryo after the formation of the central nervous system.
  • This inner layer is a germinal epithelium that gives rise to all epidermal cells. Hence, Formation of epidermis takes place at Embryo stage.
