is there any difference btw simple past & past tense ??
I think no

Dear Student

Past tense comprises of four parts : Simple Past Tense, Past Perfect, Past Continuous and Past Perfect Continuous.

They are wholly known as Simple past. However, since simple past is commonly used, people sometimes refer to it as past tense.

If you come across a question where you are asked to use past tense, you can use any one of the four tenses that come under past tense.

Regards.
