Is Translational motion and Rectilinear motion same?
Dear Student,
They are quite similar. Rectilinear motion comes under the category of translatory motion.
A motion in which the body as a whole moves from one place to another with respect to a mean position. In this motion, direction of motion of all the particles of a rigid body are in same direction and having same velocities. For example :

The motion of the block sliding down an inclined plane is translational motion.
-
All the particles of the body move together i.e, they have the same velocity at any instant of time
