Viruses contain their genetic material either DNA/RNA inside a protein coat hence virus is a nucleoprotein. Its genetic material is infectious as they are non living outside host but when they enter inside the host body they take over host machinery and replicate. It results in many viral infections therefore their genetic material is harmful for their host.
