It is not advisable to drink water during or after a meal? But what if a person drinks water just before a meal in good amount or few glasses, will it this time also hinders the pH of stomach when HCl is released by oxyntic cells?

Dear Student,
It is not advisable to drink water during and after a meal because water goes into  the stomach and  mixes with the gastric juice dilutes it and also the pH of the stomach is altered hampering the efficiency of digestion and creating stomach problems.
We can drink water before the meal but there should be a time gap of atleast 20 minutes  between drinking water and having a meal.drinking water before meals helps to salivate the dry throat and also helps in better absorption of nutrients from the food.
It is also beneficial for persons who want to loose weight as drinking water gives a fuller feeling in the stomach and helps to cut the calorie intake
