Subject : Need to improve living conditions in slums
*Through the columns of your esteemed newspaper. I would like to draw your kind attention
towards the miserable living conditions in slums.
*Country’s growth depends upon the skills of the people and the application of knowledge,
inherited or acquired by them. The people living in slums don’t have basic facilities like -
food, shelter & clothing. They only dream to be educated. The major cause is illiteracy but
above all lack of job opportunities in rural areas force these people to migrate from rural
to urban areas to earn their livelihood. Thereby many of them land up living in slums.
Even if the govt gives them houses to live. Many are unaware, a few rent these houses &
earn the money & there are some who fight to get the alloted facilities due to corruption
in India.
* All this quadruples the problems faced by these people
* Solutions
* Stephen spender in the poem ‘The elementary school in a slum’ talks about the importance
of education in our lives.
* “Once these people will be educated their language will be sun”
* Awareness is to be spread
