The uses of electroplating are -
1) silver plating and gold plating of jewellery is done to improve the appearance and value of the items

2) iron objects rust on coming in contact with air and moisture , this is prevented by electroplating them with chromium , nickel or zinc

3) objects made from cheaper metals are electroplated with chromium as chromium has a shiny appearance and resists scratches

4) tin cans that are used for storing food are made by electroplating tin on iron because tin is less reactive than iron and this prevents the food from getting spoilt
