Preformed antibodies are derived from the blood serum of previously infected people or animals and then administered into another patient. They provide passive immunity. Two emergent situations when the doctor recommends an injection of preformed antibodies:

  • During snake bites, antivenom injections are administered with preformed antibodies are administered.
