list of all the formulas necessary in this chapter (basic concepts of chemistry)?
Following are the important formulae in the chapter - Some basic concepts of chemistry
1) Mass % of an element = (mass of that element in the compound × 100) / molar mass of the compound
2) Mass percentage of a component = ( Mass of the component in the solution / Total mass of solution ) X 100
3) Mole fraction of a component = number of moles of the solute / Total number of moles of all the components present in the solution
4) Molarity = Number of moles of the solute / Volume of solution (in litres)
5) Molality = Number of moles of solute / Mass of solute (in Kg)
6) Volume percentage of a component = ( Volume of the component in the solution / Total volume of solution ) X 100
Number of moles of a solute can be calculated as follows:
(a) Number of moles in a given amount of substance = mass of substance / molar mass of the substance
(b) Number of moles in a given amount of substance = number of particles of a substance / Avogadro's number (6.023 X 1023)
(c) Number of moles in a given volume of gas = Volume of gas / molar volume of gas (22.4L)
