Lithium carbonate is stored in an atmosphere of CO2.  Explain giving reasons.

Lithium carbonate is thermally unstable.It gets decomposed to Lithium oxide and carbondioxide.Li2CO3  Li2O +CO2When they are stored in the atmosphere of carbondioxide, the concentration of [CO2] increases in the rightside, making the reaction to shift towards backside.Li2CO3  Li2O +CO2So that the decomposition of lithium carbonate is prevented.
