The major nutrients in our food are: Carbohydrates, proteins, fats, vitamins, and minerals.  
Carbohydrates are energy-giving nutrients of food (balanced diet). Commonly you can say that the starchy food contains carbohydrates. Some of the examples are: wheat, rice, potato etc.
Proteins are biomolecules that consist of one or more chains of amino acids linked through peptide bonds.  
Fat is one of the five nutrients needed by our body for proper growth and maintenance. But over intake of fats is harmful to our body. Food items such as butter, ghee, cheese etc are sources of fats.

Kwashiorkar: Swollen abdomen, thin muscles, underweight, reduced growth, reduced resistance to infection etc.

Marasmus: Thin muscles, thin arms and legs, low body fat, reduced resistance to infection, highly underweight.
